The celebration of the Whigham United Methodist Church’s 150th anniversary continues Friday night with a John Wesley Supper and Sermon featuring Dr. Don Adams, author of Top 10 United Methodist Beliefs.
The supper will begin at 6 p.m. in the church fellowship hall with the program and sermon to follow at 7 p.m. in the church’s historic sanctuary.
Dr. Adams will preach as “John Wesley,” founder of the Methodist faith, a role he has perfected over the years. The guest minister dresses in period costume to bring Wesley to life and church officials say it is an entertaining and inspiring presentation.
He is a graduate of Asbury Seminary, received his doctorate from Louisville Presbyterian Seminary and has served as pastor of Statesboro First United Methodist Church and Kingsland United Methodist Church among others, as well as the District Superintendent of the Valdosta District.
The program will also feature historic hymns of praise. Barry Strickland, Dr. Don Mobley and Curt VanLandingham are also scheduled to perform special music Friday evening.
This the second in a series of four special events marking the 150th anniversary of the founding of the Whigham United Methodist Church.
The community is invited to attend and there is no admission.
Church members say that all are welcome and they would love to have them attend.
