Veteran NFL football player and Cairo native J.J. Wilcox of the Atlanta Falcons will visit his hometown this weekend to support the Jackie Robinson Boys & Girls Club 5K Run/Walk. The annual run/walk is held in memory of Wilcox’s late mother, Marshell Wilcox, who died in 2013 while an employee of the Boys & Girls Club.
Stephen Francis, director of the local Boys & Girls Club, says club members and staff will be wearing J.J. Wilcox t-shirts for for his visit Friday at 3:45 p.m.
“The kids are all very excited to see and welcome one of their hometown heroes. The community is invited to come out to the JRBGC and enjoy this time of fellowship with J.J. and family,” Francis states.
