GRADY COUNTY SCHOOLS WILL BE CLOSED FRIDAY

With the threat for severe weather forecast for the southwest Georgia region tonight and into tomorrow, Grady County School System officials have been advised to close all schools Friday, April 19 for students, faculty and staff. Grady County School Superintendent Dr. Kermit Gilliard said that students who were scheduled to be involved in standardized testing on Friday will be tested on Monday. Also, students who were scheduled to be tested on Monday and Tuesday will be tested on Tuesday and Wednesday. Dr. Gilliard said the decision to close schools tomorrow was made after consulting with Grady County Emergency Management Agency Director Richard Phillips and officials with the National Weather Service. The Cairo Messenger will continue to provide updates regarding the potential for severe weather.
