CAIRO FIRST UNITED METHODIST Church minister Christy Bandy introduces the Rev. Buddy Whatley, pastor of Woodland and Bold Springs United Methodist Churches, at Tuesday’s lunchtime service.
The Grady County Ministerial Association’s celebration of Holy Week continues through Good Friday, April 19, with a noontime devotional followed by a light luncheon.
The lunch is free, but a donation to help defray the cost of the meal is suggested.
Wednesday’s service will begin at noon at Faith Christian Center with Pastor Bill Staten, minister of Faith Christian Center, standing in the pulpit of his home church.
Then, on Maundy Thursday, April 18, the noon service will be held at Cairo Presbyterian Church. The Rev. Dr. Ron McCaskill, pastor of Christ Church Cairo and Presbyterian pastor Becky Willis will administer the Holy Communion.
On Good Friday, April 19, the service moves to Mt. Calvary Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. Dr. Dellise Cox, pastor of Beulah Missionary Baptist Church, slated to speak.
The community is invited to attend the Easter Sunrise Service to be held at Faith Christian Center beginning at 7 a.m Sunday. The guest speaker will be Greg Hester, pastor of Full Gospel Chapel. A breakfast will be served at the church immediately following the service and a donation to cover the cost of the breakfast is suggested.
The offering collected at each service will be directed to relief for victims of the March 3 tornado.
The week began with services at Cairo First Assembly of God and Cairo First United Methodist Church.
