BOARD MEMBER Laura Register suggested the proposal to change the starting time for the board’s monthly meetings. Rather than wait until 6 p.m. Grady County Board of Education meetings will begin at 5 p.m. starting in May. The meeting date and place remain unchanged.
Beginning next month, the Grady County Board of Education will hold its regular monthly meetings at 5 p.m. rather than at 6 p.m. on the second Tuesday of each month.
Board member Laura Register promoted the change and won the unanimous approval of her fellow board members. The change goes into effect for the May 14, 2019 meeting, which will begin at 5 p.m. at the VanLandingham Center, 203 North Broad St.
The school system will be advertising the time change for board meetings in The Cairo Messenger for the next four consecutive weeks.
“We want to make sure the public is aware of the change and that they know we are not changing it to a time when they cannot come,” Board Chairman Jeff Worsham said Tuesday.
