RONALD ATWATER, M.D. has been named Grady General Hospital’s Physician of the Year.
Cairo general surgeon Ronald Atwater, M.D., was named Physician of the Year at a recent event hosted by Archbold Medical Center. Dr. Atwater’s medical staff peers selected him for the honor, which is titled People’s Choice Award.
He joined the Archbold medical staff in 2014 and practices at Cairo Medical Care.
“Dr. Atwater is worthy of this recognition because he goes above and beyond to put our patients first,” said Crystal Wells, administrator at Grady General Hospital. “He has such a loving and caring attitude towards everyone. We’re very fortunate to have him as a physician at GGH.”
The award was announced on March 22 when Archbold Medical Center held its third annual Physician Awards Banquet at Glen Arven Country Club. Award winners were nominated and chosen by their medical staff peers for the categories of outstanding community benefit, leadership and patient advocacy.
Additionally, hospital staff nominated and voted on People’s Choice Award winners, awards presented to a physician at each Archbold hospital.
Other award winners include: pediatrician Amy Cooper, MD—Physician of the Year, Community Benefit; hospitalist Kris Palmer, DO—Physician of the Year, Leadership; medical oncologist Josh Simmons, MD—Physician of the Year, Patient Advocacy; nephrologist Daryl Crenshaw, MD—Archbold Memorial Hospital’s People’s Choice Award; family medicine physician Frantz Felix, MD—Brooks County Hospital’s People’s Choice Award; family physician Stephen Rubendall, MD—Mitchell County Hospital’s People’s Choice Award.
