Jackie Robinson Boys & Girls Club of Cairo-Grady County is inviting the community to join them next week to celebrate National Boys & Girls Club Week. The special celebration offers the general public an opportunity to experience the programs the Boys & Girls Club offers to children and teens in Cairo and Grady County.
As part of the week, Jackie Robinson Boys & Girls Club will join more than 4,300 Boys & Girls Clubs across America and on U.S. military installations as they host a weeklong celebration featuring the many ways JRBGC opens the door to positive futures through outcome driven programs that focus on encouraging youth to make healthy choices, build strong character and succeed academically.
“Day in and day out, our Boys & Girls Club staff and mentors endeavor to deliver quality experiences that make a difference in a youth’s life beyond their time at the club. Research shows that kids who have an optimal experience at our clubs are also more likely to have positive self-esteem, volunteer, and be engaged in school,” said Stephen Francis, JRBGC Unit Director. “National Boys & Girls Club Week is a special time when we welcome the community to witness the amazing impact clubs have on the lives of kids and teens.”
Activities taking place to celebrate National Boys & Girls Club week include: Monday, April 8: fun-filled cooking show; Tuesday, April 9: join club members, parents and volunteers for a community service cleanup of Holder Park, Davis Park, Azalea Park and Southern Terrace Park; Wednesday, April 10: join Boys & Girls Club members who will enjoy a variety of games and group activities with Cairo High School’s Youth Council; Thursday, April 11: club members will have an Open House/Talent Show; Friday, April 12: join the club for a party and a community wide kickball game; Saturday, April 13: club members will travel to Atlanta to watch the Braves play baseball.
For information about activities taking place at JRBGC during National Boys & Girls Club Week, contact Stephen Francis at 229-378-3099.
Jackie Robinson Boys & Girls Club of Cairo-Grady County is open weekdays after school and all day during the summer months, providing youth and teens ages 6-18 with a safe and structured place during the times that children are most likely at risk of harm and getting into trouble. The club in Cairo is a unit of the Marguerite Neel Williams Boys & Girls Clubs of Southwest Georgia.
