Law enforcement officers have charged a man from Donalsonville with the murder of Jimmy Lee Bryant of Cairo. Derrick Clark, 31, is accused of shooting the 86-year-old Bryant Sunday. Bryant, was shot and later died in the yard of his home on MLK Jr. Drive, according to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation, which was called in to assist the Cairo Police Department in investigating the death.
Information released by the GBI today states, “Agents and Police interviewed witnesses at the scene and determined an ongoing domestic dispute had started earlier in the afternoon that eventually led to the shooting.”
Deputies with the Grady County Sheriff’s Office arrested the suspect, Clark, in the Whigham area shortly after the shooting yesterday and taken to Grady Detention Center where he remains.
Meanwhile, agents and police are continuing to conduct interviews of witnesses who were at the scene, according to the GBI.
