County looking to hire some part-time employees

The recent decision by the Grady County Commission to establish manned dumpsites and eventually eliminate the 35 dumpsites spread across the county is creating the need for additional county workers.
The Grady County Road Department is currently advertising for three part-time employees to man the dumpster location on Beck Branch Road in Calvary, which will be the county’s second manned site.
For many years, the manned site on 20th Street S.E. has been the county’s lone manned site.
The starting pay is $7.69 per hour and workers will work no more than 30 hours per week.
The county is planning to operate the manned sites from 7 a.m. until 7 p.m. Monday – Saturday and from 1 p.m. until 6 p.m. on Sunday.
n air conditioned booth and bathroom facilities will be provided. Applications may be obtained from the Road Department at 1978 North Broad Street, Cairo, GA 39827.
Future sites will be located on Ridge Road and near the Road Department. Grady County Road Superintendent and Solid Waste Director Stanley Elkins said the county is seeking a location near Whigham and in the Beachton area to construct manned sites. Elkins said the county needs approximately two acres for each location.
As manned sites are opened, the county will begin to phase out its many unmanned dumpster locations throughout the county.
