CHS Bands and Chorus to perform Christmas concerts

Adding to the Christmas spirit are two upcoming concerts performed by student musicians from Cairo High School.
The 70th annual Christmas Concert by the Cairo High School Bands is this Thursday night, Dec.13, beginning at 7 p.m. at the CHS auditorium.
The CHS Concert Band, under the direction of Adam Swan, will perform three selections, Fanfare Prelude on Joy to the World, The Child and the Kings, and What Child is This?
The CHS Symphony Band, under the baton of John Scanling, will perform A Most Wonderful Christmas, Symphonic Prelude on Adeste Fidelis, and will conclude the concert with Sleigh Ride.
Then on Monday night, Dec. 17, at 7 p.m., the Cairo High School Choral Program, under the direction of Erikka Edwards, will present “Winter Dreams” at the CHS auditorium.
The choral concert will not only feature the CHS Choir and Men and Womens ensembles but also the Javacya Arts Conservatory Faculty and String Quartet of Tallahassee. Edward Self is the accompanist for the CHS Chorus.
The full chorus will perform Carol of the Bells, Ave Maria, Ubi Caritas, Winter Storm, Stars I Shall Find, Winter Dreams, Hotta Chocolate, and Christmas Time is Here. The Women’s Ensemble will perform Et En Terra Pax and Candle of Peace. The Men’s Ensemble will perform Winter Solstice and Grant Us Peace.
There is no admission charged for either the band or choral concerts.
