FEMA Events Canceled on Dec. 5

Due to the National Day of Mourning commemorating the death of former President George H. W. Bush, all federal offices will be closed today, Dec. 5, 2018.
A special event, featuring FEMA rebuilding specialists, will also be closed on Wednesday—at the Walmart in Cairo.
This week-long event, where Hurricane Michael survivors can get tips and advice on making homes stronger, safer, and better protected, will resume Thursday morning, Dec. 6, as scheduled.
Meanwhile, all FEMA Disaster Recovery Centers in southwest and central Georgia will remain open on Wednesday in order to help survivors of Hurricane Michael register for federal disaster assistance. Disaster Survivor Assistance teams will be on hand to help survivors access programs that can help them move forward in their recovery. The DRC in Bainbridge will close permanently after Saturday, Dec. 8. The closing date of a DRC in Donalsonville has not yet been announced.
The deadline for anyone who suffered loss or damage from Hurricane Michael to register with FEMA is next Thursday, Dec. 13. FEMA encourages every hurricane survivor to register in case some issue caused by the storm is discovered at a later date.
