Open House at Grady Senior Center to be held Friday

The Grady County Senior Center is holding an open house Friday and the community is invited to help them celebrate Older Americans Month. The center, located at 33 17th Ave. N.W., will host the event from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m.
Refreshments, such as shaved ice, will be served during Bingo games and music by Amanda and Jeff Davis. Lunch will be served at noon.
Those interested in participating are asked to contact the center at 229-377-9440 to make a reservation.
The 2018 theme for Older Americans Month is Engage at Every Age. All 14 senior centers in Southwest Georgia, including Grady County’s, that operate under the umbrella of the SOWEGA Council on Aging, are holding open houses Friday. Other participating counties are: Baker, Calhoun, Colquitt, Decatur, Dougherty, Early, Lee, Miller, Mitchell, Seminole, Terrell, Thomas, and Worth.
Older Americans Month has been held each May since 1963 when it was originated by President John F. Kennedy to acknowledge the contributions of past or current older persons in our country.
