Cairo Police say entering a pickup truck parked at a local gun and outdoor sports shop turned out to be a bad idea for a local teenager who is now being held in the Grady County jail thanks to store employees.
The 17-year-old suspect, Detravonta Tremain Sanders of Cairo, allegedly entered the  2017 Ford F-250 parked outside South Georgia Outdoors, 260 Fourth Street S.E., at 3:20 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 23.
An employee of South Georgia Outdoors tells police he saw Sanders inside the truck. He and two other store employees chased Sanders, who allegedly ran from the truck through Cairo Cemetery to a wooded area near Third Avenue and Sixth Street Southeast where he was caught. The pursuers held Sanders down until Cairo Police arrived.
Cash taken from the truck was returned to the vehicle owner, and Sanders was charged with felony entering auto.
