Chamber hosting special events in coming weeks

Nominations for
awards will be
accepted thru Friday
The Cairo-Grady County Chamber of Commerce has several events planned to benefit its members in the coming weeks including the 92nd Annual Meeting.
Nominations for the annual awards are being accepted through this Friday, Jan. 5. Awards will be given to winners selected as Large Business of the Year, Small Business of the Year, Man of the Year, Woman of the Year, Young Professional of the Year, Community Service, Professional of the Year and Farm Family of the Year.
All award winners will be announced at the Annual Meeting scheduled for Monday, Jan. 22.
Other events planned include a networking breakfast next week followed by an internet workshop and ending with a 5K run walk.
Breakfast on Broad is scheduled for Thursday, Jan. 11 at 7:45 a.m. Held at The Foundry downtown, the breakfast will provide a time for chamber members to network, enjoy breakfast, and win prizes. Sponsors of the January event are First National Bank, Cairo Chiropractic and The Foundry.
Learning how to utilize Google to the advantage of a business is the lesson taught at a free workshop on Tuesday, Jan. 16. Participants of this Listening Lunch will find out how to make sure their business shows up on Google Maps and how to claim their listing.
The “Get your Business Online” workshop is scheduled to take place at The Foundry from noon until 2 p.m. Since seating is limited those interested in attending are asked to contact Sara Heady at the chamber by email at sara@cairogachamber.com or telephone, (229)377-3663.
The Cupid Shuffle 5K Run Walk is scheduled for Saturday, Feb. 17 at 8 a.m. with registration beginning at 7 a.m.
The cost to participate is $25 for runners and walkers who pre-register by emailing advocate@cairogachamber.com or calling 229-377-3663. Those who register by Feb. 5 will receive a free t-shirt. The cost to register the day of the 5K is $30.
