Big celebration planned honoring Gainor

Cairo Mayor-Elect Booker Gainor has announced that the president of Florida A&M University will speak at an inaugural ball planned for next week to celebrate Gainor’s election to office.
Dr. Larry Robinson is scheduled to give a keynote address during the black tie event, which will take place at the Grady Cultural Center on Saturday, Jan. 13 at 6 p.m. Tallahassee Nights Live Band will provide musical entertainment.
Gainor, who is a graduate of FAMU, will be sworn in as mayor of Cairo on Monday during the City Council’s first meeting of 2018.
The public is invited to purchase tickets to the Inaugural Ball by Saturday, Jan. 6 at 11 p.m. Tickets will not be sold at the door. General admission tickets are $65 per person and includes dinner and two drink tickets. VIP admission tickets are $85 per person and also includes a VIP Cocktail Hour with hors d’oeuvres, VIP seating, dinner and two drink tickets.
General admission tickets may be purchased online at eventbrite.com.
Purchasers of these tickets must bring a valid form of identification to the Jan. 13 gala where they will receive their ticket at a special online ticket registration table.

No tickets will be sold at the door, and no refunds will be allowed.
Attire for the evening is black tie.
Any remaining funds after the event will be donated to a local charity, according to promotional information about the event.
