Free Christmas meals to be served by local churches

For the next two Sundays, Grady Countians have an opportunity to enjoy free meals thanks to local churches.
The Cairo-Grady County Ministerial Association is holding its annual Christmas Dinner this Sunday, Dec. 17, from 2 p.m. until 5 p.m. at the cafeteria of Washington Middle School.
A meal of turkey and all the trimmings will be served at no cost to diners. The school cafeteria is preparing the food, with volunteers serving the meal and desserts.
Organizers say this is the 25th annual Christmas Dinner organized by the local ministerial association.
The second opportunity for a free meal comes on Christmas Eve at First Baptist Church. Organizers say they are hoping to break bread with those who are struggling, those who are lonely, those who need family, or those who need fellowship.
“Come join us on Sunday, Dec. 24, 2017 at First Baptist Church, Cairo,” says volunteer Laura Ridley.
To make reservations call the church office at 229-377-2233. Limited seating is available, so those interested are asked to call to reserve a spot no later than 3 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 20.
The seating of guests will begin at 4 p.m. in the fellowship hall, located at 30 Sixth Ave. N.W. Dinner will be served until 5 o’clock.
A Christmas Eve worship service will begin in the sanctuary of First Baptist at 6 p.m.  No reservation is necessary for the worship service – all are welcome to attend.
