Cairo man shot Sunday night at Holder Park
Cairo’s Holder Park was the scene of a shooting Sunday night when one Cairo man was shot in the leg.
Cairo Police Officer Kris Weaver was already responding to a call in the area at 9:27 p.m. regarding loud music when he heard several gun shots. As Officer Weaver approached the scene, he reported seeing several vehicles driving away at high rates of speed.
Soon, Sgt. Mike Carr and Officer Tommy Gainous arrived at Holder Park and allegedly located several spent shell casings and blood.
At 9:31 p.m., dispatchers advised the officers that a gunshot wound victim had arrived at the emergency room of Grady General Hospital. Officer Weaver met the victim, Dwayne Isom, 26, Cairo, at the hospital.
Isom reportedly told Weaver that he didn’t see who fired the gun, which shot Isom in the upper right leg.
A short time later, though, the alleged gunman, LaDarren D. Anderson, 25, 500 Sixth St. S.W., Cairo, turned himself in at the Grady County Sheriff’s Office where he was charged with aggravated assault.
