CPD offering firearms course

The Cairo Police Department is offering a firearms training class next week to the first 20 to register. The two-part class begins the evening of Thursday, Sept. 14 and ends on the morning of Saturday, Sept. 16. The $25 class tuition will benefit the Shop with a Cop Program of the Cairo Police Department.
“If you’re looking to become more familiar with a recently purchased handgun or just need some assistance becoming more confident while safely handling a firearm, this class is for you,” states C.P.D.’s information on the course.
Thursday’s class will take place at the Cairo Police Department, 4 S. Broad St., 6:30 p.m. until 8:30 p.m.
Saturday’s class will be held at the firing range beginning at 8:30 a.m. Students will receive directions to the firing range from the instructor.
Students will need a functional handgun and 50 rounds of ammunition. All guns must be unloaded until the instructor says otherwise.
