“Walk with the Dog Doc” to be held this Saturday morning at Davis Park
A Walk with a Dog Doc event is scheduled for Saturday at Cairo’s Davis Park, and some lucky ticket holder will win an offshore fishing trip. The fundraiser for Second Chance Animal Rescue (SCAR) will take place at Cairo’s Davis Park between 10 a.m. and noon Saturday. The public is invited to join Cairo High School’s Art Club in participating.
Tickets for the fishing trip are only $10 each, and may be purchased at Animal Medical Center, Southern Insurance or Cairo High School. The trip by SGI Charters is for four people and is a value of $450. Proceeds will benefit SCAR to help the no-kill shelter with caring for the animals.
There will also be food for sale and other items to purchase for donations for the shelter. Participants who walk at least one mile with their dog will get a free goodie bag.
The CHS Art Club has been active throughout the 2016-17 school year with fundraising projects for SCAR. They will be presenting to Mollie Johnson and the SCAR animals seven new beds that they purchased with proceeds from a raffle they held recently at school.
“So, bring your dog and join the fun at the park Saturday for a great cause,” says Lynn Davis, art teacher and club sponsor.
Pets available for adoption will be on site. For more information call Animal Medical Center at 229-377-2060.
