Probe into death of local newborn continues

Agents with the Georgia Bureau of Investigation say they are still actively investigating the February death of a newborn brought to Grady General Hospital as they await more medical evidence.
Jamy Steinberg, special agent in charge of the GBI Thomasville Field Office, says additional lab reports from the crime lab are needed before they can move forward with the case.
The infant was reportedly born at home then brought to the hospital by her mother the next day, Feb. 10. The baby was pronounced dead and her body was then sent to the state crime lab for an autopsy.
Anyone with information about the case is asked to contact the Grady County Sheriff’s Office at (229) 377-5200 or the Georgia Bureau of Investigation at (229) 225-4090.
