“Spring forward” Saturday night as Daylight Saving Time begins

Daylight saving time begins March 12 so don’t forget to “spring forward” one hour before going to bed Saturday night.
Public safety officials also encourage all local residents to take this opportunity to replace the batteries in their home smoke alarms.
In 2016, approximately 106 residential fires in Georgia resulted in 141 deaths. Of those fires, 96 of the homes did not have a working smoke alarm, according to Georgia Insurance Commissioner Ralph Hudgens.
Daylight saving time will come to an end on Sunday, Nov. 5 when we “fall back” one hour.
