Hwy. 84 paving project to get underway soon

Cairo City Manager Chris Addleton said he was notified last week that milling and resurfacing of U.S. 84 will begin on or about March 6.
Oxford Construction Company Project Manager Joe Tondera alerted Addleton about the upcoming work.
The project includes 8.1 miles of U.S. 84 from Upper Hawthorne Trail to east of Pierce Chapel Road.
City crews are in the process of lowering gas and water valves to accommodate the milling of the highway. Once the resurfacing is complete, city crews will raise the valves back up to the surface level.
Also included in this project is the resurfacing of 38 Spur on First Avenue N.E. from U.S. 84 to the Fifth Street overpass.
