Roddenbery Memorial Library needs more friends

Friends of the Roddenbery Memorial Library is putting out a public call for support as the group prepares for a major fundraising campaign.
In an advertisement published in today’s newspaper, the group points to a declining level in funding for the library and a need to help beef up its resources and programs. The letter states, “Those of us who care about the library and the impact it has had, does have, and will have on each person in our county must come to its aid.”
The letter, signed by all of the officers of the Friends’ executive council, encourages people to join their group in support of the library, which they state has been tops in the state for decades. The group is holding its annual meeting at the library on Tuesday, Jan. 24 at 7 p.m. Refreshments will be served beginning at 6 p.m.
Anyone interested in supporting the group, through monetary donations or time, may obtain more information at the library, located at 320 N. Broad St. or by calling the library at 229-377-3632.
Don Nickerson is president of the Friends of Roddenbery Memorial Library, Virginia Ponder is vice president, Gilda Harrell is treasurer and Rebekah Tobar is secretary. At-large positions are filled by Jeanette Sickel and Robin Renaud.
