Metro Power slated to work this weekend to install new traffic signals downtown

Representatives of Metro Power will begin work Friday evening and through the weekend on the final touches of the downtown streetscape project.
Installation of new signalization and removal of the old traffic signals and accompanying infrastructure will take place.
Cairo City Manager Chris Addleton had anticipated work beginning earlier, but reported Tuesday that the company had been involved in recovery efforts in Albany.
“I don’t know how much they can get done over the weekend, but there will be less traffic at that time so, hopefully, they will get it completed,” Addleton said.
South Broad Street will remain open while the work goes on, according to Addleton.
This is the final portion of the major redevelopment of South Broad Street to be completed. The city will now consider Phase 2 and Phase 3 of the streetscape project and how to fund the remaining work.
