Political forums hosted by WGRA to begin next week at public library

Local political forums for races on the ballot in Grady County will begin next week. All of the Decision 2016 Political Forums by WGRA-AM-790 will take place in the evenings this fall, a change from the noon slot of previous forums. Also, the events will take place in the auditorium of Roddenbery Memorial Library and will be broadcast live on the radio and live streamed on WGRA’s Facebook page.
Forums will feature candidates for sheriff of Grady County, state representative, magistrate court judge and tax commissioner.
First on the calendar is the Grady County magistrate court judge forum between incumbent Magistrate Judge Pat Pollock, republican, and Hollie Bryant, democrat. This forum is scheduled for Monday, Oct. 10, at 6 p.m.
The race for sheriff of Grady County is the second scheduled forum with incumbent candidate Harry Young, a republican, and challenger Duke Donaldson, a democrat, on Tuesday, Oct. 11, at 7 p.m.
On Tuesday, Oct. 18, the campaign for tax commissioner of Grady County will be featured in a 7 p.m. forum with candidates Cathy Slaughter, democrat, and Barbara Darus, republican.
A forum for the district 173 seat in the Georgia House of Representatives is tentatively scheduled for Monday, Oct. 24, at 6 p.m. between incumbent republican Rep. Darlene Taylor and democratic challenger Tommy Hill. Forum organizers are awaiting final agreement from both candidates.
