Early voting ends Friday
This is the final week of early voting in the run-off to elect a new superior court judge for the South Georgia Judicial Circuit, and election officials say turnout here remains low.
The final day to cast an early vote is Friday by 5 p.m. Tuesday, July 26, is election day across the circuit and the county’s 13 polling places will be open from 7 a.m. until 7 p.m.
Circuit-wide voters must choose between Ryan Cleveland and Heather Lanier to replace the retiring Judge A. Wallace Cato.
As of the close of business Tuesday, only 323 early votes had been cast and out of 64 requested mailed absentee ballots only 37 had been returned to Grady County election officials.
Early voting takes place at the Board of Registrars office located at 24 Third Ave. N.E., behind the courthouse in Cairo.
