Laura Register to take part in White House summit

Laura Register of Grady County has been selected to participate in the United State of Women held in Washington, D.C. later this month. The summit is being convened by the White House and will cover gender equality issues.
“I’m overwhelmed, excited and honored to be part of such an even with women from around the world,” says Register.
The summit will cover issues of economic empowerment, health and wellness, educational opportunity, violence against women, entrepreneurship and innovation, leadership and civic engagement.
On the website for United State of Women it states the summit “will be an important moment for both women and girls, domestically and internationally. It will feature speakers who will both educate as well as inspire all of us to take action on June 14th and well after.”  
Register is chairman of the Grady County Board of Education, and serves on the boards of directors of the Jackie Robinson Boys and Girls Club of Cairo and Grady County and of the Georgia Campaign for Adolescent Power and Potential (G-CAPP).
She is married to Cairo physician Ashley Register and the couple has three grown children.
