Contractor expects to close bridge Jan. 19

REPLACEMENT OF THE SAPP CREEK BRIDGE on GA?Hwy. 112 is projected to begin Jan. 19 and the work could take up to 180 days.

The general contractor on the Ga. Hwy. 112 bridge replacement over Sapp Creek notified state and local officials this week of the tentative date of Jan. 19 to begin work and close the existing bridge. At that time, state approved detours will go into effect.
The state’s contract with Southern Concrete Construction Co., Inc., of Albany allows for the road to be closed for up to 180 days.
The company will erect signage notifying the public of the road closure prior to Jan. 19. Southern Concrete officials have requested that all emergency personnel and other affected parties be notified of the road closure and detour.
Officials note that this is a projected start date and is weather dependent.
The existing 30’ x 81’ concrete bridge over Sapp Creek on Ga. Highway 112 will be replaced with a 44’ x 140’  concrete bridge.
