New chamber directors are elected for 2016

The ballots have been counted and three new members have been elected to the board of directors of the Cairo-Grady County Chamber of Commerce.
Candidates for the three open board seats were Paul Blough of Blough Tech Inc., Scott Blanton of Madjax, Jeff Johnson of Rose City Outdoor LLC, Lynley Carraway of Stash Home Decor & Gifts, Jeff Lovett of WGRA, and Pastor Johnny Moore of Family Worship Center and Moore’s Frame Shop.
The top three vote getters were Paul Blough, Lynley Carraway and Pastor Johnny Moore and they will join the board in 2016.
Retiring board members include Allan Wells of Cairo Auto Supply, Chastity Cox who is a Mary Kay representative, and Joe Porter of Porter Insurance.
The newly elected and retiring board members will be recognized at the upcoming annual membership meeting planned for Monday night, Jan. 25. The annual meeting will be held at the Grady Cultural Center and doors will open at 6 p.m. with the dinner being served at 6:30 p.m. That evening Brooke Jones of Southern Promotions will be announced as the 2016 chamber president, succeeding Joe Porter, 2015 president.
The Cairo High School Jazz Band will perform and details about a guest speaker will be announced shortly.
Tickets are $35 and can be purchased at the chamber beginning January 4.
