Band uniform drive got a boost Sunday
The Cairo High School Syrupmaker Band uniform drive got off with a bang Sunday afternoon as $4,704.38 was donated by those attending the annual Christmas Concert at the CHS auditorium.
Band Boosters were stationed at the entrance to the auditorium soliciting donations.
“I was very pleased with the start of the drive. We are roughly 10 percent of the way there. We still have a ways to go, but this was a fantastic start,” Band Booster President Jeffery Cape said Monday.
Cape said the band must raise $45,906.21 to purchase 225 new concert uniform jackets and 225 ruffled dickeys that complete the uniform.
The current coats being worn by Syrupmaker band members are 30 years old and in desperate need of replacement.
“We would appreciate any and all donations, no matter how large or small. Your donation will be going to a very worthwhile cause and we will appreciate every contributor,” Cape said.
Band patrons can mail contributions to: Cairo High School Band Boosters, P.O. Box 966, Cairo, GA 39828. For more information, contact the booster president or call Cairo High School Band at 229-377-3006.
Band Boosters are hoping to raise enough money so they can place the order in time to have the new coats here for the 2016 concert season.
