Veterans Day program to feature rededication of eternal flame monument

Next Wednesday when Grady countians and Americans across the land pause to honor the service of the men and women in the United States Armed Forces, a long-standing monument to the county’s war veterans will be rededicated.
Thanks to a partnership between the Grady County Commission and members of the American Legion, the county’s eternal flame monument has been repaired and will once again be a visible reminder of the service of veterans from this community.
Family Worship Center of Cairo and its Pastor Johnny H. Moore are coordinating next Wednesday’s ceremony which will be held on the courthouse lawn beginning at 11 a.m.
There will not be a guest speaker this year, according to Pastor Moore, with the focus of the ceremony being the rededication of the eternal flame monument.
The Cairo High School Syrupmaker Band is scheduled to perform and Gold Star mothers will be recognized.
“We encourage everyone to come out and pay respect to all of our veterans,” Pastor Moore said.
