No charges filed in recent death of pedestrian
Cairo Police have not made a decision about whether to lodge charges against an 18-year-old Cairo girl who was driving an SUV when a Cairo man was stuck and killed nearly three weeks ago.
Police are still waiting on results of an autopsy and toxicology report on the victim from the Georgia Bureau of Investigation.
Alejandro Galindo Perez, 25, was apparently trying to cross Eighth Avenue N.E. around 10 p.m., on Saturday, Aug. 22, 2015, when he was hit. Perez died at the scene.
Kaitlynn Elkins was driving the vehicle that struck Perez. She has not been charged.
Cairo Police investigator Lt. Giovanni Santos says a decision about any charges will be made when the GBI Crime Lab delivers its test results.
