Little interest in school board seat

Not a single application had been submitted as of Tuesday for the District 5 seat on the Grady County Board of Education recently vacated by Dave Dumas.
The school board is accepting applications from District 5 residents interested in being considered for appointment to the board to fill Dumas’ seat until the general election in Nov. 2016.
Next year, a special election will be held to fill the unexpired term of Dumas which runs through Dec. 31, 2018.
Applications are being accepted through 4 p.m. next Friday, June 26.
Any resident of District 5 interested in applying may obtain application information from Dana Pritchett at the school system central office at 122 North Broad St. between the hours of 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. weekdays.
The school board is anticipating making an appointment at its July meeting to be held Tuesday, July 14.
