School board to participate in training exercise Tuesday

The Grady County Board of Education is scheduled to participate in a training exercise next Tuesday night led by a representative from the Georgia School Boards Association.
The whole board governance team training will begin at 3:30 p.m. and will conclude at approximately 7:45 p.m.
GSBA Director of Field Services Zenda Bowie will facilitate the training for school board members.
Included on the agenda is a review of the roles of school board members as well as the relationship between the board and school superintendent.
A discussion of superintendent evaluations will be held and a self-assessment of the board will be conducted.
The board is also slated to discuss how board meetings are conducted.
New board members are required to have 15 hours of training and board members with one year or more of service are required to have nine hours of training annually.
According to a spokesman in the office of Grady County School Superintendent Lee Bailey, Board member Dave Dumas must complete his 15 hours of new board member training by June.
Board member Robbie Chaplain has until December to complete his new board training.
Both Dumas and Chaplin are scheduled to participate in new board training in Savannah on June 11.
