Ridenour receives state appointment

Mrs. Meghan Ridenour, Cairo High School Spanish teacher and Grady County Teacher of the Year, was recently appointed to the State of Georgia Learning Resources Advisory Committee by the Georgia Department of Education. Mrs. Ridenour was nominated to represent the 2nd Congressional District by CHS Instructional Coordinator, Mrs. Tammy Donalson.
Mrs. Ridenour will represent schools in the local congressional district as one of the curriculum advisors for the upcoming statewide adoption of K-12 Foreign Language and ESOL materials. The Learning Resources Advisory Committee includes one instructional representative chosen from each congressional district in the state of Georgia.
These teachers serve to review, evaluate and select materials from educational publishers for a statewide list of approved materials. Individual school districts select from this approved list when purchasing curriculum resources for local classroom use.
Grady County will serve as the host site for the 2nd Congressional District with Mrs. Ridenour as host site manager this summer of a display of the instructional resources exhibited for review and evaluation. All stakeholders including parents, students, educators and community members are encouraged to participate in this review process.
The displays will be located in the social studies wing of Cairo High School’s main building and open to the public Monday through Thursday, June 22-July 9, 2015, 8 a.m. until 4 p.m.
