“Taste of the Town” is Saturday
Grady General Support League and the nearly 30 individuals and businesses planning to serve up tasty vittles for Saturday’s Taste of the Town, are planning for a big crowd. The fund raiser for the support league takes place at Grady Cultural Center beginning at 6 p.m. The event ends at 8 p.m.
Proceeds from Taste of the Town will be used to purchase a “Vein Finder” and an operating room stretcher for Grady General Hospital.
Tickets are still available for $20 each at six locations in Cairo or from members of the support league’s board of directors. Local ticket venues are the Cairo-Grady County Chamber of Commerce, Grady General Hospital, Cairo Eye Care, Capital City Bank, Center Drugs and United National Bank.
In addition to the food served up to those in attendance, musicians from the hospital will perform. The musical combo “All is Well” is made up of Roy Adams, Ashley Mode, Stacey Muliford and Matthew Pipkin.
Individuals cooking up dishes to serve are: Bob and Louise Anderson with Barbara Darus; Christina Brown; Yvonne Childs; Larry Harden; Fran Hill; Annie Jones; Ken & Lisa LeGette; Stacy Munford; Lisa Oliver; Marie Reddick; Chuck Thomas; and Terry Williams.
Commercial vendors planning to serve their wares are: Maryland Fried Chicken; Mr. Chick; Center Drugs; Aunt Shirley’s Brittle; Gilliard’s Store; GRITS “A Southern Experience;” Porky’s BBQ; LaCora & Co. Inc.; Jose’s; Taco Madre; Simply Southern Catering; Neet’s Catering Service; and Grady General Hospital-Morrison’s.
Several departments at the hospital are also competing and include: Charles, Nellie and Miranda Kifer, ER Staff; Crystal Ramm and Julie Dumas, Nursing Administration; Vickie Jenkins and Jennifer Woodard, Maternity Center; and Dori Griffin and Betty Owens, UR Staff.
