Open house at Grady campus of SWGA Tech set for March 20

The Grady County campus of Southwest Georgia Technical College will host an Open House later this month and the public is invited.
The Open House, which will include campus tours, is scheduled for Thursday, March 20, with both morning and evening sessions available, 10 a.m.-1 p.m. and 5:30 p.m.-7 p.m.
“This open house will serve as an opportunity for us to showcase our SWGTC of Grady County campus. Southwest Georgia Technical College is committed to serving as a local resource, and we are proud to provide Cairo’s citizens affordable and accessible higher education opportunities. We are grateful to be a part of the Cairo community and we will continue to show support to this region,” said Dr. Craig Wentworth, president of SWGTC.
The college invites the public to join in this free event. Attendees will get a chance to explore the Cairo campus as college administrators will be on hand to give tours throughout the event. They will also offer door prizes, giveaways and refreshments.
“We hope to attract not only prospective students to this open house, but also engaged community members who would like to know more about this valuable resource located right in your own back yard,” added Wentworth, “we want the public to stay informed about the many programs we offer on this campus, both credit and noncredit, and feel that they can come to us with other needs.”
Cairo campus faculty members will be available to meet and greet and to provide program-specific information. Additionally, financial aid and admissions staff will be on hand to guide prospective students through the application process.
Also, SWGTC Foundation representatives will be present to share valuable information about the many available scholarship opportunities.
Representatives from Albany State University will be available to discuss their off-site program that takes place on the SWGTC Cairo campus. This off-site program began in 2012 through an articulation agreement between SWGTC and ASU. Since this partnership began, ASU instructors have offered junior and senior level bachelor degree courses in social work, criminal justice, early childhood education and some upper-level math on SWGTC’s Cairo campus in the evenings, Monday through Thursday.
Southwest Georgia Technical College of Grady County is located at 1550 U.S. 84 West, Cairo. For more information on the open house, call the Cairo campus at 229-378-2901.
