Clinton Thomas is one lucky fellow
A Cairo man has picked up an instant $1 million Georgia Lottery prize. Clinton Thomas, who recently celebrated his 24th birthday, played the instant game $1,000,000 Gold Rush, and won a $1 million top prize.
Cairo Food Mart, 1010 US 84 W., sold the winning ticket.
Thomas, who scratched his lucky ticket while in the store, said he couldn’t believe it.
“I was looking for a camera because I felt like it couldn’t be real,” he said. “I don’t know how to feel. I’m still in shock.”
With his winnings, Thomas said he anticipates paying off bills, financially assisting his parents and saving the remainder.
Since its first year, the Georgia Lottery Corp. has returned more than $15 billion to the state of Georgia for education. All Georgia Lottery profits go to pay for specific educational programs, including Georgia’s HOPE Scholarship Program and Georgia’s Pre-K Program.
