Pat Dye to speak at upcoming chamber banquet

Pat Dye of Auburn fame no longer marches up and down the sidelines of the gridiron. These days he is busy nurturing more than 5,000 Japanese Maple trees at his Quail Hollow Gardens in Notasulga, AL.
Coach Dye will be the featured speaker at the Cairo-Grady County Chamber of Commerce’s 88th annual membership meeting on Jan. 27 where he will talk a little football and trees.
Tickets for the banquet are still available at the chamber for $35 each which includes a catered meal.
Doors open at 6 p.m. and the dinner will begin at 6:30 p.m.
Dye, a graduate of the University of Georgia, served as head coach of the Auburn Tigers from 1981 until 1992.
He also coached for nine seasons as an assistant to legendary Coach Paul Bryant at Alabama.
Now Dye stays busy with many activities including the operation of the container tree nursery located west of Auburn, AL near the small community of Notasulga.
In addition to remarks by Coach Dye, chamber members and guest will witness the presentation of the annual chamber awards including Man of the Year, Woman of the Year, Professional of the Year, Community Service, Farm Family of the Year and the Teacher of the Year will be recognized.
