Community to mark death of young principal with 5K Fun Run and Walk

An educational scholarship fund to benefit projects at Southside School has been set up in honor of the school’s late principal, Lateesha Faulk Clinton, who died last February, days after her 39th birthday.
A 5K Fun Run and Walk has been organized to benefit the fund on Saturday, Feb. 1, with registration, 8 a.m.-8:50 a.m., and the run beginning at 9 a.m.
Proceeds will benefit the Lateesha Faulk Clinton Educational Projects Fund at Southside Elementary School. The scholarship will be used to enhance the educational opportunities for Southside students.
The race will begin at Southside Elementary School, 491 Third St., SE, with registration inside the school’s lobby.
In addition to the fun run, there will be a “Children’s Run/Walk.”
Entry cost is $15 if paid before Jan. 24. Participants paying the fee by the Jan. 24 deadline will also be guaranteed a t-shirt.
The entry fee after Jan. 24 and on race day is $20. No refunds on registration fees are allowed.
Trophies will be awarded to 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place for top overall male and female winners, and to the male and female finishers in specific age groups.
