Davis named to Grady JDA

The Cairo City Council on Monday night voted unanimously to appoint a Cairo banker to the Grady County Joint Development Authority.
Charles J. Davis, Grady County president of Capital City Bank, was appointed to fill the vacancy created by the retirement of veteran authority member and JDA Vice Chairman Nancy Clark.
Mrs. Clark has served on the authority as a city of Cairo appointee since first being named to the authority in September 1996.
Davis was appointed to a three year term. He was also recently appointed to the Grady County Hospital Authority by the Grady County Commission.
The Capital City Bank executive is an active member of First United Methodist Church and the Cairo Rotary Club. He is a former chairman of the Cairo-Grady County Chamber of Commerce and currently serves on the board of trustees of Thomas University.
Davis also chairs the annual fundraiser which provides scholarships for Grady County students attending Thomas University. Under his leadership, the inaugural event last year was the most profitable fundraiser in the history of the university.
He and his wife, Debbie, are the parents of 16-year-old Blair and they reside on Lake Front Drive N.W. in Cairo.
The other city appointees to the JDA are Chairman Charles M. Stafford, who was appointed in 1996, and Charlie Goar, who was appointed in 2003.
Stafford’s current term expires next year and Goar’s term expires in 2015.
