Theater in the Park drew large crowds

Cairo’s Syrup City Players’ inaugural Theater in the Park was a hit with audiences who enjoyed the outdoor drama experience at Davis Park over the weekend.
More than 250 tickets were sold to the two stage productions of “The Hobbit” held Friday and Saturday evenings.
Audiences brought their own lawn chairs or blankets and sat in the grassy lawn adjacent to the park’s pavilion, which housed the play’s opening scene. Subsequent scenes and backdrops were set up around the perimeter of the lawn and when the play progressed, lights dimmed and music played as actors moved to the next scene and the audience members turned their seats to face the new location of the dramatic action under the stars.
During intermission, Syrup City Players treated the audience to refreshments.
Jeff Lovett, president of Syrup City Players says, “everyone that I have talked to loved the outdoor theater experience and hopes that we will do more of these type of events. I want to thank everyone for supporting the Syrup City Players and for coming to the show.”
