The three candidates for Cairo mayor will have the opportunity to discuss their candidacy and share their views on city government at two upcoming political forums to be broadcast on WGRA-AM790.
Jeff Lovett of WGRA announced this week his plans to host two forums featuring the candidates for mayor with the first set for next Monday. The second scheduled forum will take place on Monday, Oct. 28.
Both forums will be aired at noon and will originate from the Roddenbery Memorial Library’s Grady Room. Interested citizens are encouraged to listen in or to attend the forum live.
Citizens wishing to submit questions in advance may do so by emailing Lovett at jeff@wgra.net. During the forum on Monday the live audience will be allowed to ask questions of each candidate.
The three candidates for mayor are Bobby Burns, Scott Higginbotham, and Charles Renaud.
Burns and Renaud served together on the Grady County Commission and Higginbotham most recently served on the Grady County Board of Education.
Early voting in the mayor’s race opens on Monday, Oct. 14 and election day is Tuesday, Nov. 5.
