Chamber to spotlight its partners in education

The upcoming 87th annual meeting of the membership of the Cairo-Grady County Chamber of Commerce will showcase educational partnerships fostered with the goal of creating a quality work force.
Three distinguished area educators will be participating in a panel discussion which will highlight recent collaborations between the Grady County School System, local business and industry leaders, the University of Georgia Archway Partnership, Southwest Georgia Technical College, Thomas University, and Bainbridge College.
Dr. Richard Carvajal of Bainbridge College, Dr. Gary Bonvillian of Thomas University, and Dr. Craig Wentworth of SWGA Tech will be the featured guests at the January 28 banquet to be held at the Grady Cultural Center.
“Through the University of Georgia’s Archway Partnership, educational institutions, the local business community along with local and state agencies have come together to focus on such topics as the College and Career Academy, dual enrollment, work force training, academic programs, continuing education and professional development. This initiative has sparked greater collaboration in the community and the chamber is pleased to share the message by presenting this program,” said Chamber Executive Director Chadd Mathis.
In addition to the special program, community awards will be awarded for Man of the Year, Woman of the Year, Professional of the Year, Teacher of the Year, Community Service and Farm Family of the Year.
Tickets are on sale now through January 23 by calling 229-377-3663 or stopping by the chamber office. The tickets are $35 each.
The doors will open at 6 p.m. on January 28 and the dinner will be served beginning at 6:30 p.m.
