Public hearing on tattoo parlor is Thursday night

Two upcoming public hearings have been scheduled to consider an application for a tattoo parlor in Cairo.
The first public hearing on the matter takes place Thursday, Dec. 20 at 6 p.m. in the Cairo City Council chamber at 101-B North Broad Street in the Roddenbery Building.
The Cairo Planning Commission will take up the conditional use application submitted by Jack R. Ingram Jr., who is interested in establishing a tattoo parlor at 25 11th Ave. N.E., which is a property owned by Mills Rental LLC.
A tattoo parlor is not permitted in a Highway Commercial District, but a conditional use permit could pave the way for one to open here.
The planning commission will make a recommendation to the Cairo City Council and the mayor and council will hold a second public hearing on the conditional use application at its meeting on January 14, 2013 at 6 p.m.
