County workers to get end-of-year bonuses

County workers can look forward to having a little extra money in their pockets this holiday season.
With some county departments working three and four positions short and with the absence of a county administrator, the Grady County commission has identified unspent funds to pay a year-end bonus to the county’s employees.
The county has traditionally paid a year-end bonus to its employees based on years of service.
The total cost to pay the bonuses this year is $31,600, according to County Clerk Carrie Kines.
“The employees as a whole are doing a great job,” Commission Chairman Elwyn Childs said.
County employees with six months to one year of service will earn $50; employees with one to five years service will be paid $100; employees with six to 10 years service will receive $250; and employees with over a decade of service will be paid $500.
According to Ms. Kines, elected and appointed county officials are not paid the year-end bonus. There are 113 county employees eligible for the bonus.
