Parents to vote on CHS charter petition Oct. 23

An important meeting for the parents of students at Cairo High School will be held next week at the high school auditorium.
Cairo High School Principal David McCurry has scheduled a parent meeting for Tuesday, Oct. 23, beginning at 6:30 p.m.
At this meeting, parents will be asked to vote on the Conversion Charter Petition to create a college and career academy at CHS.
The final draft of the petition is available in both hardcopy and electronic formats for public review. A hard copy of the petition is available for inspection at the main office at CHS.
Electronic copies are available at the Cairo High School and Grady County School System websites.
Unless parents approve the petition, the application for the college and career academy cannot proceed. The petition must also be approved by a majority of the Grady County Board of Education members before it is submitted to the Georgia Department of Education.
The deadline for submissions is Nov. 1.
