Bomb threat at CHS was a hoax, caller is sought

Cairo Police investigators are working to find the caller who disrupted classes at Cairo High School with a bomb threat Thursday.
The call came into the school around 10:50 a.m. The male caller said, “This is a bomb threat,” according to police, then hung up.
School administrators evacuated students to the high school stadium, and then assisted Cairo police in searching the campus for anything that looked out of place, according to Cairo Police Investigator Wandell Asbell.
Cairo fire fighters were staged nearby the campus on standby as part of “standard precautions,” Asbell says.
When the buildings were deemed secure about an hour later, students were able to return to class. Searchers found no signs of a bomb anywhere on campus.
Anyone with information about the person who made the bomb threat is asked to contact Cairo police.
