“We’re so happy to be able to have a facility of this magnitude for all of our customers,” said Debbie Baird, manager of the Cairo Career Center. “This is a dream come true for Cairo.”
The new career center provides accommodations for workforce partners from the Georgia Vocational Rehabilitation Agency, Job Corps, Veterans Administration, Grady County Employer Committee, Fatherhood Program and TOPPSTEP. The Grady County Department of Family and Children’s Services, Department of Health and Neighborhood Service Center are located nearby.
Those expected to participate in the ribbon-cutting ceremony include: Cairo Mayor Richard VanLandingham and City Manager Chris Addleton; former State Representative Wallace Sholar; Chadd Mathis, executive director of the Cairo-Grady County Chamber of Commerce; and members of the Grady County Board of Commissioners. Mikell Fryer of Columbus, a GDOL district director, and Wayne Mack of Atlanta, director of field services, are expected to attend.
