A new florist opens shop in Cairo

CYNDI TARIN cuts through the red ribbon to declare open Summer Creek Florist and Gift shop, as family, friends and civic leaders look on.
Tarin, who previously worked for a local florist shop that has since closed, said that she has had the goal of opening her own flower shop for quite some time; her goal became a reality Friday morning.
The shop’s small façade disguises an airy interior that features paintings, gifts, candles, bath soaps, body scrubs and, of course, flowers.
As a full service florist, Summer Creek furnishes weddings, funerals, birthdays and everyday flower needs, and offers free delivery within the city limits.
In addition to the display of backpacks and bags intended for back-to-school shoppers, Summer Creek also sells original works by local artist April Morgan. A collection of Morgan’s acrylic paintings currently graces the walls of Summer Creek with peaceful but vibrant images of the Italian countryside.
Morgan says that the Tuscan landscapes are soon to be joined by pen and ink drawings of historic Grady County.
Summer Creek is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays, and 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Saturday. It is located near Center Drugs at 135 Second Avenue SE in Cairo 229-397-5459.
